    Frank joined Customised Solutions in September 2009 as an Investment Analyst before becoming an Index Portfolio Manager in 2012. He is responsible for managing both local and international tracker funds.

    He has eight years industry experience specialising in managing funds in Africa, and Emerging Markets.

    Prior to joining Customised Solutions, he was a lecturer at Tshwane University of Technology (Mathematics and Statistics Department) for five years.

    Frank also worked as a research assistant for Siyazi-SA Consulting, under operations risk management.

    Fawaz is primarily responsible for managing portfolios driven by active quantitative strategies across a range of funds such as local and international equity funds, balanced funds and long-short hedge funds. He also manages the sustainability-based (ESG) investment portfolio capability within the active space and oversees the broader ESG strategy and integration across Customised Solutions.

    He is a key individual on the Old Mutual Investment Group Artificial Intelligence (AI) committee and acts a champion for AI initiatives both within Customised Solutions and across the broader Investment Group business. Fawaz’s research interests include insights into sustainability investing, factor-based research, converting data into investment insights, portfolio construction techniques and tactical asset allocation.

    He has more than seven years of experience in managing portfolios and over 13 years in the investment industry.

    Bradley is responsible for the strategic development and operational management of the business. He also serves on Old Mutual Investment Group’s Executive Committee. Bradley first joined Old Mutual in 1997. After conceptualising and starting OMSFIN, he left in 2000 to assume the role of Executive Director at Goldman Sachs in London. Three years later he rejoined Old Mutual as Executive Personal Assistant to Roddy Sparks, the then Managing Director of Old Mutual South Africa.

    Cavan joined Old Mutual Investment Group in April 2007 and manages the Old Mutual Pan Africa Fund and Old Mutual African Frontiers Fund.  He took over the management of the African Funds in 2012, having managed the Old Mutual Industrial Fund for five years.  

    Prior to joining Old Mutual Investment Group, Cavan was an industrial analyst at Credit Suisse Standard Securities for 10 years, during which time he was rated in the Financial Mail Analysts’ survey in six categories. 

    Cavan has received the following awards:

    • Best Actively Managed Equity Fund 2016. Received for Old Mutual African Frontiers Fund at the i-invest Single Manager Awards

    In addition to her responsibilities as Head of Research for Old Mutual Equities, Tracy covers SA Insurers and shares in analysing the oil and gas sector. 
     
    She joined Old Mutual Investment Group as an equity analyst in 2001. 

    Prior to joining Old Mutual Equities she was the Sector Head for Financials in the centralised equity research team and managed the Old Mutual Financial Services Fund until 2015. Tracy has 17 years of industry experience.

    Munnik is currently the Head of Market Risk and Quant Development in Old Mutual Specialised Finance “ OMSFIN”. His responsibilities include profit attribution, market risk management, quantitative development and monitoring and reporting for activities in trading and portfolio management.

    Having completed his Honours in Statistics at the University of Witwatersrand, Munnik joined the Old Mutual life company in 1993. He worked in many and various actuarial areas in the life company, including Actuarial Finance, Group Assurance and PFA, before joining OMSFIN in 2004, where he joined the Trading Team before heading up the Market Risk area in 2008.

    A multi-award winning portfolio manager, Ian joined Old Mutual Equities in April 2011 and is responsible for the diversified mining companies and non-mining companies such as steel, forestry and paper.  He is also the portfolio manager for the Old Mutual Mining and Resources Fund (unit trust).

    As a qualified engineer, Ian started his career on the mines, before becoming a mining analyst. He was at Stanlib (then Liberty) for over 11 years. During this time he held several senior positions, including Head of Equities and Head of Research, as well as managing a number of retail and institutional mining and equity funds.

    Shaun was previously the Financial Director of OMSFIN. Prior to being the Financial Director, he was the Head of Origination for OMSFIN. 

    Prior to Old Mutual, Shaun worked as a Mezzanine Finance Transactor at Makalani. Shaun completed his articles in 2003 at Deloitte and remained with the firm for a further three years, where he was a Senior Manager in the Financial Institutions Team.

    Grant is the Chief Investment Officer of Customised Solutions. This boutique has assets under management in excess of R135 billion. These assets are comprised of both local and global investments across the investment spectrum.

    Grant is involved in driving the boutique investment process, overseeing, the development and implementation of the boutique’s strategies. He manages various portfolios across the hedge fund; equity (local and global); and multi asset class range.

    Grant has 25 years of financial markets experience encompassing managing currency, derivative, hedge fund and multi asset class portfolios.

    Grant began his career in the currency markets, trading currency derivatives on a proprietary basis for one of the large South African banks.

    Grant is a qualified stockbroker and was a co-founder of one of the first hedge funds in South Africa in 1997. He joined Futuregrowth Asset Management in 2004. He headed up their Alternative Investments business. Futuregrowth was acquired by Old Mutual Investment Group in 2008.

    Warren is responsible for constructing and managing portfolios. In addition to these responsibilities, he is accountable for quantitative research, which is paramount to the success of the boutique’s strategies.

    He was appointed as a Quantitative Analyst in 1998 and participated in quantitative research and building quantitative models.  He worked closely with Old Mutual Investment Group’s chief asset allocation strategist.

    Warren then joined the quantitative and risk unit when it was formed. He was responsible for the investment risk management and his duties included building quantitative models at a security level, risk management and quantitative research of all Old Mutual Investment Group’s clients/products.

    Paul has been Head of Alternative Investments since 2004. This boutique is responsible for the group’s investments in infrastructure, private equity, impact investment and mezzanine debt. He chairs the Alternative Assets Investment Committee and has served on the boards of African Infrastructure Investment Managers, Assore, African Clean Energy Development, CIT, J&J, Life Healthcare, Metcash, Mezzanine Partners, Old Mutual Investment Group, Pepkor, Tourvest and Pembani. He also chaired Green Hands, Old Mutual Investment Group’s Social Development Forum, for 10 years.

    Paul’s entire career has been involved in investment and capital markets. His previous work experience includes serving articles with Deloitte in Johannesburg where he qualified as a chartered accountant. He then spent 7 years as an investment banker at Investec.

    Paul joined Old Mutual in 1995. He spent five years as the Portfolio Manager of the Old Mutual Life Funds (at the time a US$50 billion portfolio and the largest balanced mandate in the country) and three years as Head of Investment Views, formulating the investment house view and model portfolio for Old Mutual Investment Group. Over these periods, the Life Funds and fully discretionary balanced funds, respectively, delivered top quartile performance.

Post-articles, Burchert joined Old Mutual Equities as a Listed Equity Analyst, where he covered stocks in the Financial, IT and Construction industries.

    Burchert has degrees in accounting and is a Chartered Accountant. He has 5 years of investment experience with 3 of those years spent in private equity investments.
